About Our Founder
Paul E. Shultz
Hi, my name is Paul E. Shultz, and I’m the founder of Nodens Shield™.
I was inspired to create this company in 2023 when news of the devastating fires in Lahaina, Hawaii, spread across the nation. Watching those apocalyptic images unfold made it clear to me that tragedies like that should not be allowed to happen again.
Since departing the Army in 2015, I’ve worked as a Project Manager on some of the most sophisticated military programs ever developed. Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed extraordinary technological accomplishments, and it became obvious to me that the same level of innovation could—and should—be applied to protecting our communities from wildfire disasters.
Since Lahaina, we have seen even more devastating fires around the world. With the growing impact of climate change, these events are only expected to increase. That is why I created Nodens Shield™—to provide a practical, scalable solution for communities and businesses facing the highest wildfire risks.
Our system applies industrial-grade technology and proven defensive strategies to protect homes and businesses from approaching wildfires. Nodens Shield™ is designed to be fully customized and seamlessly integrated into the communities it serves.
On a normal day, you might barely notice the system—no more than you would a telephone pole. But when wildfire threatens, Nodens Shield™ activates immediately, deploying thousands of gallons of stored water in a defensive perimeter around homes and infrastructure.
As fire approaches, the system can deploy multiple spray patterns designed to slow or stop advancing flames and suppress dangerous embers. In the future, we plan to offer systems capable of directly attacking fires with zero human intervention.
Background & Experience
I enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard in 2002 as an Air Traffic Controller. Over the course of my service, I was promoted to First Lieutenant and served as a Field Artillery Officer.
After twelve years of military service, I transitioned into the private sector in 2015 as a Project Manager overseeing the design and production of test equipment for nuclear weapons systems.
In 2018, I moved on to help develop cutting-edge targeting systems for the Air Force’s most advanced jets, bombers, and unmanned systems.
Following that success, I helped manage major upgrades to the Global Positioning System (GPS).
In 2020, I was given a unique opportunity to manage a major construction project—in Antarctica. As Project Manager, I coordinated teams across the globe to build a new Earth Station for the National Science Foundation. Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and one of the most extreme environments on Earth, the project was completed on time and under budget.
My most recent role involved serving as a Product Lead on Strategic Missile Defense programs, where I led a team of more than 200 engineers delivering advanced defensive interceptor technologies designed to protect the United States.
Along the way, I have also contributed to projects involving deep space exploration and communication satellites for NASA.
Why Nodens Shield
Compared to many of the technologies I’ve worked on throughout my career, Nodens Shield™ is surprisingly simple.
I’ve seen engineers accomplish incredible feats to defend our nation from global threats. Now it’s time to apply that same ingenuity and determination to protecting our communities.
Wildfires are becoming more frequent, more destructive, and more difficult to contain.
It’s time to stop wildfires in their tracks.
A Message from the Founder
Join me in ending this needless suffering.
We’ve got work to do.
